GFA Supports Feb 10 MPI Luncheon

Welcome the Green Foodservice Alliance Blog! Wow ~ there is so much going on with the GFA’s many projects, committees and activities. With the flexibility of a blog, we will keep our members updated and informed of creative ideas for greening foodservice operations. Be sure to check it out often!

For the next two weeks, the GFA focus is on the February 10 Meeting Planners International finale luncheon to their national conference at the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC). With the support of PFG Milton, Wild Georgia Shrimp, Springer Mountain Farms Chicken, Destiny Produce, Sparkman’s Cream Valley, Sweet Grass Dairy, Sweetwater Growers and Royal Cup Coffee, the GFA secured donated local, seasonal and fresh food for the 1,000 person luncheon. MPI showed their appreciation by letting the GFA plan the luncheon program.

The luncheon is an opportunity to educate the decision makers for future corporate meetings, conferences and conventions on Atlanta’s Sustainable Best Practices and how Atlanta is a pioneer in green initiatives.

With each course, Chef Billy Skiber of Levy Restaurants ~ GWCC will take the stage to explain the dish served and introduce the producers whose products inspired the meal. Bill Bolling Founder and Executive Director of the Atlanta Community Food Bank will speak on Atlanta’s Table and its national impact. Laura Turner Seydel, Honorary Chair of the Zero Waste Zone ~ Downtown Atlanta, will introduce the ZWZ and discuss how it changes the landscape from waste disposal to product regeneration.
